US singer Demi Lovato is set to reunite with the Jonas Brothers in a cameo appearance in the upcoming Disney Channel film Camp Rock 3. The 33-year-old, who starred in the first two Camp Rock movies as Mitchie Torres, will reprise her role in the third installment.
Lovato's Return and Role
In a post on X, Lovato teased her return with the message: “Y’all miss me? xoxo, Mitchie.” She will also serve as an executive producer on the film.
The plot follows Connect 3, the fictional band played by Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas, as they return to Camp Rock to find an opening act for their reunion tour.
Cast and Crew
Veronica Rodriguez will direct the film, with Maria Canals-Barrera reprising her role as Connie Torres, Mitchie's mother. New cast members include Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, Lumi Pollack, Sherry Cola, Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter, Brooklynn Pitts, and Ava Jean.
Background and Legacy
The original Camp Rock premiered in 2008, followed by Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam in 2010. Lovato's role in the first film launched her singing career, which has since included six UK top 10 singles, including the number one hit "Solo" with Clean Bandit, and five UK top 10 albums.
Other notable hits include "Heart Attack," "Up" featuring Olly Murs, and "Cool For The Summer." Before Camp Rock, Lovato appeared on the children's series Barney And Friends from 2002 to 2004.
The Jonas Brothers, formed in 2005, gained worldwide fame through their appearance in Camp Rock and have since scored a UK top 10 single with "Sucker" and four UK top 10 albums.
Camp Rock 3 is scheduled to premiere on the Disney Channel on August 13, followed by streaming on Disney+.
