Davina McCall is planning to step away from television within the next five years, according to her husband Michael Douglas. The presenter, one of the UK's most recognisable TV stars for more than two decades, is expected to slow down at the age of 62 after a string of major health battles.
Michael, a celebrity hairstylist, said the couple are already looking forward to relaxing and enjoying life together after years of hard work.
"We've got five years of hard work left in us. Then I think it's time for us to relax and enjoy all of that hard work. Davina will be about 62 and I'll be around 58. There comes a point where you think, when do we actually sit back and enjoy everything we've worked so hard for?"
He added to the Daily Mail: "We're both happy and healthy individuals, but that might not last forever."
Health battles
In recent years, Davina has undergone surgery for breast cancer and the removal of a rare brain tumour. Last year, she revealed she had been treated for breast cancer after discovering a lump and underwent treatment at London's Royal Marsden Hospital before receiving positive news.
Speaking at the time, she said: "It was very, very small, so I got it very, very early which is incredibly lucky. But I am so relieved to have had it removed and to know that it hasn't spread."
Her breast cancer diagnosis came after another health scare in 2024, when doctors found a rare colloid cyst on her brain during a routine health check linked to her menopause advocacy work. She later had surgery to remove the tumour and was given the all-clear following a series of MRI scans.
Career and marriage
Davina has been a familiar face on British television since launching the very first series of Big Brother in 2000. She has since fronted hit entertainment and factual programmes including The Masked Singer, Long Lost Family and My Mum, Your Dad.
The retirement plans come just weeks after Davina and Michael celebrated their marriage for a second time with a wedding party at their Kent home. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at London's Marylebone Town Hall last December after seven years together. They first began dating following Davina's split from her former husband, Matthew Robertson.
Michael says the couple are keen to make the most of the future while they are both healthy and able to enjoy everything they have worked so hard to achieve.
