Davina McCall Hits Back at Husband Michael Douglas Over Retirement Claims
Davina McCall Slams Husband Over Retirement Comments

Davina McCall has hit out at her husband Michael Douglas after he suggested the couple will retire in five years' time. The former Big Brother host was quick to clarify that while Michael was eyeing an early retirement, she had no desire to do so.

Davina's Response to Retirement Comments

Earlier this month, hairdresser Michael, 53, claimed that he and Davina, 58, had around "five years" of professional work left in them. After that, the pair would withdraw from public life and enjoy retired life together. However, Davina has now given her side of the story, insisting she is not going anywhere.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Davina shut down any concern fans had about her potential early retirement. "He's thinking about hanging up his scissors − I'm not hanging up the microphone," she quipped.

How the Story Surfaced

Davina explained how the story first came about, revealing it stemmed from a conversation Michael had with a client. "Michael did somebody's hair and he was saying in five years' time he'd like to stop being a hairdresser," she explained.

Michael had said last week: "We've got five years of hard work left in us − then it's time for us to relax and enjoy all of that hard work. Davina will be about 62 and I'll be around 58. There comes a point where you think, 'When do we actually sit back and enjoy everything we've worked so hard for?'"

Davina and Michael's Relationship

Davina regularly gushes over Michael, branding him a "green flag" and the "love of her life." In several interviews, she has praised his calm nature, which helps ground her in the busy world of showbiz. The couple officially tied the knot just eight months ago in December at Marylebone Town Hall, with only close friends and family present. It came just weeks after Davina had revealed her breast cancer diagnosis and had surgery to remove a lump shortly afterwards.

Both Davina and Michael remain loved up, having renewed their vows in a secret ceremony earlier this year. The couple kept the event private, choosing their £3.4 million Kent home as the setting. The Long Lost Family host later praised Michael for helping her through her health scare, describing him on her Begin Again podcast as "honest, open and straightforward," who plays "no games."
