Davina McCall plans to quit TV after health issues

Davina McCall is planning to leave showbiz for good, her husband Michael Douglas has revealed, explaining that the health issues she has endured have pushed her to retire early.

The 58-year-old has been a fixture on British television for more than two decades, fronting hits such as Big Brother, The Masked Singer and Long Lost Families. In recent years, however, she has faced a series of health scares, including a benign brain tumour and breast cancer.

Five years of hard work left

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Michael was asked about his wife's future career plans and whether she intended to slow down. He replied: "We've got five years of hard work left in us."

He added: "Then I think it's time for us to relax and enjoy all of that hard work. Davina will be about 62 and I'll be around 58." He went on: "There comes a point where you think, when do we actually sit back and enjoy everything we've worked so hard for? We're both happy and healthy individuals, but that might not last forever."

Renewed vows after cancer diagnosis

Michael and Davina are as close as ever, having renewed their vows in a second wedding at her lavish Kent home two weeks ago. The service was attended by family and friends, months after their first wedding at Marylebone Town Hall at the end of last year.

Their first nuptials came after Davina discovered a small lump in her breast, which was found to be a form of cancer. The Long Lost Families host underwent chemotherapy and was given the all-clear by doctors in April this year.

Brain tumour ordeal

Davina's health troubles also include a brain tumour. At the end of 2024, she revealed that a "very rare" colloid cyst had been found inside her brain. The tumour was discovered accidentally but was benign and eventually removed, leaving her out of work for months as she recovered.
