Davina McCall has reportedly married her partner, celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas, in a small and intimate ceremony just three months after announcing their engagement. The 58-year-old TV star and Douglas tied the knot in front of around ten close friends and family members at a venue near their home.
A source told The Sun that the wedding was “absolutely beautiful” and exactly what the couple wanted. The friend added that the decision to formalise their marriage came after Davina’s recent health scare, saying: “They’ve been through a huge amount in recent months, with Davina’s health, and it just felt right to formalise their marriage. They didn’t see the point in waiting.”
The couple, who have been together for over six years, had previously insisted they had no plans to marry. Davina once told the Mirror: “We go on honeymoons all the time but without getting married. Why change anything?” However, the source revealed that the next day the newlyweds attended another friend’s wedding as a married couple, happily showing off Davina’s wedding ring.
The news comes after Davina announced in November that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She discovered a lump after being prompted by signs on the back of doors at work reminding women to check their breasts. She underwent a lumpectomy nearly three weeks ago and urged others to “get checked”.
