Fresh details have emerged about Brooklyn Beckham's 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz, with Sir David Beckham's speech coming under fire. The ceremony has gone down in infamy after being overshadowed by reports of awkward encounters and "inappropriate" moments, such as Victoria Beckham's rumoured dance with Brooklyn.
A wedding guest, speaking to The Daily Mail, has claimed Sir David and Victoria had not been on speaking terms with Brooklyn for months prior to the wedding.
Wedding speech details
According to a source, the ex-Manchester United star delivered a lengthy speech that focused on his relationship with the groom, making no mention of Nicola at all.
"The speech went on, and on," the source said. "It was one of the oddest bits of the day. It was as if David was getting married to Brooklyn."
He is said to have wrapped up his speech, saying: "The most important thing is to make each other happy. And treat your Mrs like gold."
On the other hand, Nicola's father, Nelson, is said to have given a brief speech, primarily focused on Ukraine, with the country having recently been invaded by Russia.
Wedding drama and rumours
Such was the odd tone of the event that a guest said the atmosphere at the wedding brunch, the morning after, was as if "someone had died."
Rumours of what went on at the wedding have seen it gain infamous status in popular culture. Talk of an "inappropriate" dance between Brooklyn and Victoria dominated headlines while a debacle over wedding outfits and a supposed power struggle between the former Spice Girl and Nicola only added to the drama.
Family rift deepens
The Beckham brand has been fragmented in recent times, following Brooklyn's bombshell statement on social media in January, in which he said he did not wish to reconcile with his parents and accused them of "controlling" narratives around the family.
Brooklyn has since decided to cut ties with his parents. His January statement read:
"I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.
"Unfortunately my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.
"I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.'
"For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.
"The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.
Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.
"My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped."
The DJ who played at their wedding, Fat Tony, opened up about the ceremony and the subsequent falling-out. He told the Mail: "Before judging, people should remember that two parents have lost their firstborn son and a son has lost his parents. All families have dramas, but they just happen to be the Beckhams."
Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows in August 2025, with none of the 27-year-old's family reportedly invited. In the four years since, Brooklyn has blocked his family on social media.
He has been notably missing from several events, including David's Knighthood and his 50th birthday party, Victoria's Netflix show premiere, and several World Cup fixtures in the USA, at which David and Victoria were present.
