A man who discovered his date was secretly scoring him in real time via a OneNote 'Date Assessment' says he chose humor over embarrassment, and the couple is still together.
The anonymous man, writing for Metro, described his first date in nine months with a woman named Roselyn (name changed). After a break-up in July 2025, he had avoided dating until he found her on Instagram, intrigued by her bio: 'I have strong opinions about escalators.'
The Discovery
During the date at a restaurant near her place, Roselyn stepped outside to take a client call, leaving her phone on the table. A notification for a 'Date Assessment' appeared, and the man turned the phone to read it. The note was detailed, with sections for First Impression, Conversation, Green Flags, and Compatibility, plus a score system.
He saw he had scored 76/100 for First Impression, with notes like 'Jaw: strong. Smile: genuine.' Under Potential Liabilities, she wrote: 'Maybe too charming. Charming men are exhausting – monitor.' The note ended with 'Total so far: 89.'
Turning It Around
Instead of being offended, the man was fascinated. When Roselyn returned, he asked, 'I was wondering how much the jaw category is worth.' She initially called it a violation, but he countered, 'You scored my jaw,' and she admitted, 'It is a strong jaw.' They both laughed.
Roselyn explained she started the notes system after too many bad dates, to assess real compatibility versus an enticing first impression. The evening became more relaxed, with the man jokingly campaigning for bonus points. He kissed her on the jaw at the end of the date.
A Happy Ending
She messaged him the next day, thanking him for being a good sport. A week later, they went on a second date, and he officially asked her to be his girlfriend.
