Danny Dyer has disclosed that his diet while filming the hit series Rivals led to health issues, including constipation. The 48-year-old actor, who plays Freddie Jones, said he ate 12 sausages a night during production.
Speaking on the Live and Let Dyers podcast, Dyer explained that he lived alone in Bristol and relied on takeaways and sausages. He admitted that the lack of olive oil in his diet worsened his digestive problems.
Dyer is set to return for Rivals Season 2, which began filming in early 2025 and premieres on May 15 with a three-episode debut. The series continues the 1980s-set drama, with Dyer teasing more 'steamy' content and a 'beautiful' continuation of his character's arc.
The second season will see the return of David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, and Katherine Parkinson, with new additions Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett. Executive producer Jilly Cooper expressed excitement, promising 'even more wit, desire, and dramatic twists'.
