Dane Bowers Reflects on 'Puppy Love' with Katie Price and Fame
Dane Bowers on 'Puppy Love' with Katie Price and Fame

Dane Bowers, former member of R&B band Another Level, has reflected on his brief relationship with Katie Price, describing it as 'puppy love' in a new interview. The 46-year-old singer appears in Price's upcoming Sky documentary series Katie Price: Nothing To Hide, where he revisits their whirlwind romance from his teenage years.

Reflecting on the Past

Bowers explained that his memory of the relationship was hazy, requiring reminders from the documentary team. 'It was a bit of a whirlwind relationship and it was interesting to talk about it, which is why I agreed to do it,' he said. He added that he wanted to share his side of the story, as people frequently ask about his time with Price.

When asked if he considered Price the 'love of his life' — a term she has used for him — Bowers clarified: 'I'd describe it as puppy love. At that point, you don't really know what a real relationship is. Because it was so intense, in the public eye and in your face, it made it very difficult.' He emphasized that he has no regrets and that the relationship included both good and bad memories.

Current Relationship with Katie Price

Bowers stated that he bears no animosity toward Price. 'I don't mind Kate. If we ran into each other, we'd say hello. It's been a long time, so there's no animosity or anything like that,' he said. He also commented on Price's husband, Lee Andrews, calling their situation 'a soap opera' and noting that he hears 'things here and there' from mutual acquaintances in Dubai.

Navigating Fame and Relationships

Bowers, who also dated Love Islander Laura Anderson, reflected on the challenges of being in a relationship with another celebrity. 'I don't particularly like being in the public eye,' he admitted. 'Those two relationships [Katie and Laura] were the exact opposite. They had to keep that part of their life on the high end; fame was important to them for their work. For me, it wasn't really, so it wasn't the easiest thing.'

He now prefers to keep his current relationship private, noting that his partner is unfazed by his past. 'There's a mutual respect between us, and we're just happy with how things are,' he said.

Changes in the Music Industry

Bowers contrasted the music industry of the 1990s and 2000s with today's landscape. 'I don't think there are really any 'stars' now,' he said. 'Before, there were superstars because you didn't know anything about them. Michael Jackson was a superstar. You had to go to his show, you had to wait for his video to come out to watch it. Now everything's so accessible.' He noted that the ease of modern technology has lowered barriers, but also diminished the mystique of fame.

Collaboration with Victoria Beckham

Bowers recalled working with Victoria Beckham on her debut solo single 'Out of Your Mind,' which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in 2000. 'Victoria's brilliant; very professional. We were serious about what we wanted to do, but had lots of fun, too,' he said. He described the promotional tour as intense but enjoyable, with both families present. 'I was really proud of the song, and it did very well,' he added.

Life in Dubai and Future Plans

Bowers has lived in Dubai for 10 years, where he runs an events company. 'I'm happy there. I can't really see myself leaving for a while,' he said. He also plans to perform a few shows with Another Level, but without pressure. 'I'm not bothered by the fame and madness. I like to be calm and have a good life, which I've got, so I'm a happy boy,' he concluded.
