Cyndi Lauper hit back at a heckler who interrupted her onstage during the opening night of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace. While introducing one of her songs, a man in the crowd shouted something unintelligible in footage that has since surfaced online.
'I don't know what the f*** you're saying, hon,' the 72-year-old singer responded. 'Please remember where you are, okay? 'Cause if you're trying to shade me, b****, I'm gonna come for you. I'm from Brooklyn.' Her retort drew a wave of applause from the audience gathered on Friday.
She continued, 'And if I wanna f***in' talk, I will do a tap dance if I f***in' want. Sorry. That, of course, is not part of my people's skills course,' before returning to her performance of Sally's Pigeons, a 1993 song about a childhood friend who died from a back-alley abortion.
Lauper began her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Friday and will perform through Saturday, May 2. Her upcoming shows include this Saturday, as well as next Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, with tickets still available for all dates.
In a Facebook video posted Thursday, she expressed excitement: 'We're in Vegas. I can't believe it! We're here!' She teased 'a couple of surprises in the show, but you have to come and see it. I'm not gonna tell you. I'm excited! Come on down! It'll be a night of Cyn! C-Y-N, yeah.'
This residency follows her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, which ran from October 2024 to August 2025, covering 69 cities across North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan, ending at the Hollywood Bowl. Early in the tour, a viral clip of her dancing to The Goonies 'R' Good Enough sparked online mockery, with some critics questioning her age. Fans defended her, noting her energy at 71.
Her Hollywood Bowl shows were filmed for a CBS and Paramount+ special titled A GRAMMY Salute to Cyndi Lauper: Live from the Hollywood Bowl. Reflecting on the experience, she told the Recording Academy, 'It wasn't nerve-wracking that it was being filmed, but it does add a layer that takes you out of the moment. There were a lot of places that we did not get to bring the Farewell Tour to, so I hope that this can make up for that. I want to share this moment with as many people as possible.'
