Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has been seen supporting her actress pal Erin Shanagher ahead of her theatre appearance in Oldham, which comes as their joint charity venture saw its latest major boost.
The Stockport-born actress, who plays DS Lisa Connor-Swain in the ITV soap, appeared delighted to reshare the news that Erin, who hails from Blackpool, will lead Creative Director Nick Bagnall's radical new staging of Macbeth, performed inside Liquid & Envy nightclub in the centre of Oldham later this year.
Macbeth Production Details
Oldham Coliseum Theatre announced the 19-performance run this week, with them set to take place from Friday, October 23, to Saturday, November 7. Erin, who played DS Karen Hobson in the hit ITV drama The Bay and most recently appeared in Ridley, will star alongside Andrew Sheridan in the production, which is said to "pull audiences directly into the workings of Macbeth's mind, exploring ambition, masculinity, power and identity through a contemporary Oldham lens".
The news was shared on social media, with Vicky resharing the post, confirming Erin's involvement from Oldham Coliseum Theatre to her Instagram Story and writing: "There she is!" before adding a GIF which read: "Proud".
Secret Santa Hamper Charity Boost
It comes as Vicky and Erin, who hails from Blackpool, have once again teamed up for their charity initiative, Secret Santa Hamper. The pair first started the charity venture in 2020, in a bid to help families in Greater Manchester who were in food poverty during the Christmas period, by providing essential food hampers.
The post on their GoFundMe page explains: "Since then, with the support and generosity of the public, we have created and delivered over 3200 food hampers to children and their families during the Christmas holidays. Once again, with your valued support, we aim to raise a staggering £16,000, so we can help over 1100 families this Christmas."
"Last year, we were once again inundated with requests from schools on behalf of some of their students who were in dire need of help. So this year, we aim to help even more families across the borough, by increasing the fundraising total to fulfil the aim of creating over 1100 essential food hampers."
Since this year's fundraiser was launched, the target has continually been smashed by donors, with Vicky sharing her disbelief at the latest total. Sharing an update to her Instagram Story, revealing now more than £24,000 has been raised, the soap star wrote: "Thank you so much [face holding back tears emoji]."
