Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has been left heartbroken as she confirmed the unexpected death of her beloved dog, Sushi. The Blackpool-born actress, best known for playing Bethany Platt in the ITV soap, shared the news with fans in posts on her Instagram Story.
Lucy's emotional tribute to Sushi
The Pomeranian often appeared on Lucy's social media page and was by her side through many milestones, including becoming a mum to her two children, Sonny and Nancy, with her footballer fiancé, Ryan Ledson.
Sharing a picture of Sushi on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, September 23, Lucy wrote: "Our lil sushi roll," before adding dove, broken heart and mending heart emojis. She followed up with another picture and confirmed: "Sushi passed away unexpectedly yesterday. A diva and an icon x."
Sushi's role in Lucy's pregnancy announcement
In 2022, Sushi helped Lucy reveal her pregnancy joy after she had earlier suffered a tragic miscarriage. The dog could be seen wearing a heart around her neck reading: "We've been keeping a secret!" as Lucy and Ryan posed for cameras, sharing a glimpse inside her pregnancy with Sonny, now three.

In November, Lucy celebrated her 30th birthday before revealing that Ryan, a midfielder for EFL League One club Huddersfield Town, had proposed. She confirmed the engagement on Instagram with photos showing off her sparkling ring, writing: "Ending the birthday weekend with my best friend as a fiancé!!!! I can't wait to marry you @ryanledson8." While it is not clear if Ryan proposed before or after her party, Lucy was seen celebrating into the early hours, dancing to Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love."
