Coronation Street star Sydney Martin has been seen back in the UK after giving fans a glimpse inside her magical break away from the famous cobbles.
The actress is currently winning praise for her portrayal of Betsy Swain in the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, as she tackles a major health storyline for the character, which she has played since 2024.
Betsy was rushed to the hospital in scenes aired last month, after being found collapsed on the floor at her home, No.6 Coronation Street. Once in the hospital, it was confirmed she had suffered a stroke at the age of 18.
Holiday and Return
But away from her important, issue-led storyline, last week, Sydney revealed that she was enjoying some time away from the cobbles and her Weatherfield alter-ego. In pictures shared on Instagram, the soap star was seen enjoying a day out at a pig beach. With the sun shining down, Sydney was all smiles as she posed with a number of the animals, and she captioned the post: "The little girl that wanted to be a zoo keeper is still inside me and she's screaming!!"
But now, Sydney has confirmed that she's back in the UK. She posted a mirror selfie to her Instagram Story, in which she could be seen sporting a white sports bra and baby blue leggings. "Happy Monday," she captioned the post, which was shared on Monday (August 17).
Behind-the-Scenes Praise
Meanwhile, Sydney was recently seen praising Corrie's head of hair, makeup and special effects, Gillian Walsh, and her team following a behind-the-scenes post on social media. Gillian took to Instagram with pictures giving a glimpse at her and her team's work in making Sydney's portrayal of Betsy's health ordeal as realistic as possible, and said: "Thank you so much for all the incredible love and feedback, especially the Corrie community, for the video sharing the life-casting process behind Betsy’s stroke storyline.
"The warmth, encouragement, and thoughtful messages we’ve received have meant more than I can properly put into words, and it’s been genuinely moving to see how deeply it has resonated with so many of you. A huge thank you to Sydney for trusting my vision and for your patience and openness throughout our first in-house sculpt. Your commitment, sensitivity, and generosity in the role have been truly inspiring, and it’s been an absolute privilege to work alongside you on something so important."
Gillian added: "Coronation Street is always a true team effort, and this storyline is no exception. It’s brought together so many exceptionally talented people both in front of and behind the camera, all contributing with care, skill, and dedication to tell a story that really matters. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a supportive, creative, and passionate team. Right team whats next?"
Sydney was among those responding to the post, writing: "The most gorgeous team to be a part of," while Corrie's own official account replied: "What a team!!"
