He later shared a photo of himself cuddled up with three of his dogs, including Jean, and wrote: "Absolutely gutted that I’ll never get to snuggle up with my complete trio like this again. But so grateful of the time I had with them all together. Hug your pups tight while you’ve got them."

Support from co-stars

Daniel received an outpouring of support from his Coronation Street co-stars. Alex Bain, who played Simon Barlow, wrote: "So sorry to hear that Dan, sending love and best wishes."

Sue Cleaver, who played Eileen Grimshaw, commented: "Love you and I’m so glad I got to see her yesterday." Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, echoed: "Oh Dan, so sorry to hear that. Sending you a big hug."
