Coronation Street star Cherylee Houston, known for playing Izzy Armstrong, has been a fixture on the cobbles for over a decade. However, fans may be surprised to learn that her real-life husband is also a familiar face on television.
Cherylee Houston's Role on Coronation Street
Houston first appeared on the ITV soap in 2010 as the love interest of Kirk Sunderland, played by Andy Whyment. Her character, Izzy, quickly became a fan favorite, working at Underworld factory and featuring in major storylines, including a romance with Gary Windass (Mikey North) and a prison sentence in 2016.
In recent episodes, Maria Windass (Samia Longchambon) confided in Izzy about suspecting Gary of having an affair with Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien).
Married to an Emmerdale Star
Off-screen, Houston is married to actor Toby Hadoke, who has appeared in Emmerdale, Shameless, and Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights. Hadoke also runs the XS Malarkey comedy club in Manchester.
He made a guest appearance on Coronation Street in 2021 alongside his wife, playing Fergus, a concerned neighbor who helped Izzy during the pandemic. The couple filmed scenes in their own home, enjoying the chance to rehearse together.
Hadoke has praised Houston's acting skills, noting that her advocacy for disability representation sometimes overshadows her talent. He also revealed a previous Corrie role as a vicar who married Curly Watts years ago.
