Corrie fans 'work out' Lucy's next victim is Sally Metcalfe

Coronation Street fans are convinced that newcomer Lucy (Anya Dewin) could have Sally Metcalfe in her sights next, following a shocking murder twist on the ITV soap.

Lucy arrived on the long-running show this month as the daughter of Tim Metcalfe's (Joe Duttine) estranged cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex). After a reunion following years apart, Richie opened up to Tim about his marital troubles with his wife Rachel, disclosing they were experiencing a difficult period.

Richie arrested for Rachel's murder

Events took a shocking turn when Tim visited Richie's house only to discover him in a blood-stained shirt with Rachel deceased on the floor. Before long, Richie was arrested for his wife's murder and was remanded in custody.

With her father behind bars, Lucy was set to move in with foster carers, but Tim succeeded in convincing wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) to let them take Lucy in - with the teenager now residing at No. 4.

Fans fear for Sally

In Friday's episode (August 21), Tim accidentally knocked a pan crashing to the floor, causing Lucy to leap out of her skin and retreat to the garden. Tim subsequently joined Lucy and reassured her that it is her home just as much as anyone else's.

Nevertheless, fans are convinced that it was Lucy - who has displayed a sinister side - who actually murdered her mum, and they have now 'worked out' who she might kill next.

"I'm expecting her to attack Sally at some point in the future," said one person on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page. Someone else added: "I thought that as well. She's unpredictable and I think she will go for Sally." A third chimed in: "Yes."

Cast praise for Anya Dewin

Meanwhile, the actress playing Lucy, Anya Dewin, has already received glowing praise from her fellow cast members. Following her debut last week, Tony Maudsley, who portrays Weatherfield's George Shuttleworth, shared a photo on Instagram featuring the pair alongside some of their castmates.

He wrote alongside the post: "It's a HUGE day for our new girl on the cobbles @anyadewinx. Not only did she storm her A' Level results this morning.."

"It's also her first appearance on screen with us lot tonight as Lucy Parkinson (we'll need eyes in the backs of our heads with this one! ) Fasten your seatbelts! ! Welcome aboard the crazy train, Anya [heart emoji] #Corrie."

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
