Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked on Wednesday's episode as they instantly recognised newcomer Ross Wilkes, played by 61-year-old actor Ian Burfield. Burfield is best known for his roles on The Bill and EastEnders, where he has portrayed DCI Peter Arthurs since 2018. He also recently appeared in Hijack as John Bailey-Brown and The Hack as Sid Fillery.
Cassie's Encounter at the Bar
In the latest instalment, Cassie Plummer decided to drown her sorrows after her proposal rejection from partner Steve McDonald. Enjoying a few drinks at the Chariot Square Hotel, Cassie started flirting with a man at the bar. However, the mystery man soon turned on Cassie and began mocking her. Things escalated when Cassie spotted his name, Ross Wilkes, on the bar bill, leaving her floored.
Tyrone's Biological Father Revealed
In upcoming scenes this week, Ross is revealed to be Tyrone Dobbs' biological father. The discovery comes about when Tyrone's daughters Hope and Ruby reveal they have a surprise for their dad. They sent off a sample of his DNA, traced his father, and he is now present. As Ross walks into the Bistro, both Cassie and Tyrone are left to react to the startling revelation.

In spoilers for next week, Tyrone gets to know his dad while Bernie Winter notices how uneasy Cassie is around Ross. Cassie confesses to Bernie that someone is blackmailing her, and Bernie convinces her to tackle it head-on. Later in the week, Ross makes it clear that he wants a relationship with Tyrone, but when Tyrone senses something is going on with Cassie and Steve, he is shocked by what he finds out.
Meanwhile, Ross soon gets to know the locals as he romances Tracy Barlow. However, Cassie tries to warn Tracy off Ross, to which the latter warns Cassie to stop interfering in his life. Later, after being given her marching orders by Tyrone, Cassie decides she needs to tell Steve the truth.
