Corrie fans make 'scary' Lucy Parkinson prediction after actress hailed

Coronation Street fans have made a 'scary' observation about newcomer Lucy Parkinson, while the actress behind the character has been flooded with support from her new castmates.

Viewers of the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, are convinced the teenager is hiding the truth about what really happened to her mother, Rachel, who was never seen on screen but was revealed to have been killed by her husband — and Lucy's dad — Richie Parkinson.

Richie arrived in Weatherfield earlier this month and was revealed to be Tim Metcalfe's cousin. He soon slept on Tim's sofa, admitting he was going through a rocky patch with his wife, Rachel. Tim advised Richie to try to sort things out, so he headed home, but accidentally left his wallet behind. When Tim returned later, he was left in shock as he saw Richie's shirt covered in blood and Rachel lying lifeless on the floor.

Foster care and trouble on the cobbles

The next time viewers visited Weatherfield, Tim and his wife, Sally, sat in shocked silence after a sleepless night. DS Lisa Connor-Swain soon called round and confirmed that they had charged Richie with the murder of his wife. As a result, it was revealed that Lucy would be placed in temporary foster care. But when her placement fell through, Tim went behind Sally's back and organised a meeting with the social worker, saying he and his wife would take her in, as they had done with the Michaelis children — Brody, Joanie and Shanice.

Lucy's behaviour has already been a struggle for the couple. In recent scenes, Corrie fans saw how she ended up in a fight with Lily Platt, which led Jodie Ramsey to step in and see Lucy leave a large scratch across her arm. Having learned that Lucy had lost her mum in tragic circumstances, Lily, whose mother Kylie Platt was stabbed to death on the cobbles 10 years ago, decided to make amends with Lucy, and it seemed like the newcomer was willing to start afresh.

Taking the letter Lily wrote back home to No.4 Coronation Street, once alone, Lucy's demeanour changed again, ripping up the note without a second thought.

Fan theories and actress support

It left Corrie fans quick to comment on social media, as they continue to theorise that she was the one who really killed Rachel. @JAli89_91 said: "Did Lucy kill her mum? Her Dad is taking the blame for her? The girl is angry enough and seems adamant her Dad was protecting himself. Ripping up Lily's kind letter because she knows she didn't lose her mum like Lily did #Corrie."

@bosdovja92 echoed: "I love how everyone already knows this Lucy gal killed her mum but #Corrie will still do some big reveal in March next year..." @KarlRedman13 commented: "Lucy in #corrie probably killed the mum #justsaying." @DavidJosephLaw2 also shared: "Lucy probably killed her mum and her dad is taking the blame #corrie." @Sjl170 noted: "Lucy is scary, she turns in an instant. #Corrie."

Others, however, think she could be the one to bring down Jodie once and for all. @JustJamie252 posted: "Imagine if Lucy brings down Jodie #Corrie." @sarahlawson84 added: "I'd be up for Lucy going absolutely wacko on Jodie! All jokes aside, I am seeing a showdown between them #Corrie."

Meanwhile, Lucy actress Anya Dewin has already been hailed by her new co-stars. As she made her debut last week, actor Tony Maudsley, who plays Weatherfield's George Shuttleworth, took to Instagram with a snap featuring the pair and some of their fellow castmates. He captioned the post: "It's a HUGE day for our new girl on the cobbles @anyadewinx. Not only did she storm her A' Level results this morning...it's also her first appearance on screen with us lot tonight as Lucy Parkinson (we'll need eyes in the backs of our heads with this one!) Fasten your seatbelts!! Welcome aboard the crazy train, Anya [heart emoji] #Corrie."

Sally Dynevor, who plays namesake Sally and featured in the group photo, was among those to respond to the post, as she commented: "She's just wonderful [love heart eyes emojis]," while Christina Boyd, actress Amy Robbins, replied: "There she is [heart emojis]." Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie Webster, also gushed in response: "She's wonderful and so talented."
