The Guardian has issued corrections for a photo caption and an article about king penguins, along with a list of other recently amended pieces.
Boeing documentary image error
A review of the Netflix documentary Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing was accompanied by an image captioned as showing the “wrecked fuselage of a Boeing 737 Max”. In fact, the photograph depicted the reconstructed wreckage of TWA Flight 800, a Boeing 747 that crashed in July 1996, killing all 230 people on board. This error appeared only in the print edition.
King penguin nesting clarification
An article about a former teacher working to build a king penguin colony stated that the birds nest on Cecilia Durán Gafo’s land in Chile’s Tierra del Fuego. In fact, the penguins nest on land neighbouring her reserve. The process of agreeing a long-term protection order for the reserve, which began in 2011, is still ongoing.
