Coronation Street's latest villain Ross Wilkes could be set to cause more trouble ahead - but a downfall might already be on the cards. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Alan Halsall, who plays Ross' son Tyrone Dobbs on the ITV soap, warned Ross was one to keep an eye on in the coming episodes. He also hinted that one character, not Tyrone, could see Ross for what he is.
Amid the mystery over Tyrone's mother Cassie Plummer's disappearance, everyone knows Ross 'dropped her off at the station' before she 'cut contact with everyone'. While Alan didn't say when the truth would come out, he did hint that at some point all would be explained - and that there is something to be told.
Fiz Dobbs could expose Ross
Alan suggested it could be Tyrone's wife Fiz Dobbs who would expose Ross' behaviour, just as fans have hoped. He didn't give any details, and confessed he hasn't been told much himself, but he heavily hinted that Fiz would have Ross' card marked.
When asked whether to keep watch where Ross is concerned, Alan agreed before he told us: "I can only say that this is soap. I would keep an eye on every character, to be honest. I don't know what's coming next. Ross creates some waves and obviously we've just seen the first of those waves, if you like, with Cassie leaving. It's exciting for me to see what comes next."
Alan Halsall on Ross' future
Ian Burfield, who plays Ross, is a fantastic chap, we're getting on so great, and I enjoying working with him. So, it's just exciting for us as actors to actually not know what's coming. The storyliners and writers are going to come up with all kinds of twists and turns. I would definitely keep my eye on Ross."
On who will be the one to realise Ross is hiding things, Alan went on: "There's a fair bit of mystery surrounding Ross and the events that have gone on. As to how long it is before the truth comes out, I couldn't possibly give that away. People aren't quite sure with Ross and I don't think Tyrone quite sees it, but I think Fiz maybe sees it a little bit more. Maybe Fiz is the one to unearth what's actually going on, or maybe not, maybe they just both don't see it. I think Tyrone's very gullible in the fact that he just wants to try and get a relationship with his dad."
Relationship between Tyrone and Fiz
If Fiz does start unravelling what's going on with Ross, Alan doesn't think it will come between Tyrone and Fiz. He explained: "I think Tyrone and Fiz have been through enough to be honest with you. Fiz is definitely a sharper knife in the drawer than Tyrone is. So she's already seeing more with Ross, but I think, in the end, Tyrone does listen to Fiz a lot. So maybe she's the one that finally gets through to Tyrone."
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
