Coronation Street Fans Predict Messy Split for David and Shona
Coronation Street Fans Predict David and Shona Split

Coronation Street fans are predicting a very messy split for an iconic cobbles couple after noticing a worrying change in behavior. Shona Platt (played by Julia Goulding) and David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) are considered one of the soap's best ever couples, but viewers believe their relationship is on the rocks.

A Troubled History

Shona and David have faced numerous obstacles since they fell in love. Shona first arrived on the street after Billy Mayhew found her living rough, just months after David's wife Kylie was stabbed to death by Shona's estranged son, Clayton Hibbs. Despite this tragic connection, the pair quickly fell in love and married in 2019.

The couple currently live at number eight with David's daughter Lily and Shona's troublesome younger sister Jodie Ramsey, who once lured David into bed by pretending to be Shona. Over the years, they have endured David's rape by Josh Tucker, threats from Clayton, and Shona's brain injury.

Baby Harper's Arrival

Last year, Shona fell pregnant with their first child together. After tests revealed a tumour on the baby's neck, she underwent a risky procedure. Baby Harper was born earlier this year and remains in hospital but is doing well. However, viewers have noticed a huge change in Shona's behavior, which could have devastating consequences.

Fan Reactions

After noticing Shona's poor treatment of David in recent episodes, fans are suspecting a break-up. One Reddit user wrote: "I feel like they have been making Shona more irrational these past couple of weeks. I like Shona but she's being so unreasonable every episode." Another added: "Her telling David to drop dead because he wanted to spend the day with Sarah on her dead son's birthday was crazy out of character."

A third viewer said: "The way she talks to David recently is horrible. Don't think he'll put up with it for much longer." A fourth echoed: "She is a lot more snarky with David. He can't do right for doing wrong sometimes. I wish she would see through Jodie and realise she's trying to cause problems in her marriage." Another commented: "I could totally see David walking out if she continues."

A sixth fan shared a theory: "I think they're trying to build up to David having an affair. She will automatically blame Jodie, when it's likely someone else and she's a scapegoat."

Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
