Coronation Street fans have uncovered a potential sinister twist for Betsy Swain as spoilers reveal her plans to leave Weatherfield next week. Actress Sydney Martin, who portrays the teenager, joined the ITV soap in 2024. Betsy first appeared as Sabrina Adetiba's friend before viewers learned her mother is DS Lisa Swain.
Over the past two years, Betsy has been central to major storylines, including an upcoming arc with Dylan Wilson, with whom she shares a subtle on-screen romance. Sydney Martin told Digital Spy that viewers can expect a mix of emotions for the young couple. "Dylan and Betsy have been through a lot together," she said. "There are beautiful moments ahead. They are polar opposites; she is a ticking time bomb, and he is grounded and sweet."
Martin added, "That contrast creates funny scenes, but also beautiful ones. I am excited for Liam to shine. I have been working hard, and it will be a busy summer."
Spoilers for next week show Sean Tully refusing to serve underage Brody Michaelis, Dylan, and Betsy at the Rovers. The group heads to the precinct, where three rough lads confront them. Brody orders Dylan and Betsy to flee while he runs in the opposite direction, chased by the lads.
Meanwhile, Betsy tells Lauren Bolton she has been offered a place at the London College of Fashion but worries about leaving Dylan. She has not yet informed her mother, Lisa Connor-Swain. When Betsy eventually tells Lisa and Carla, Carla is delighted, but Lisa's reaction remains uncertain.
