Coronation Street confirms Sienna's heartbreaking secret

This week on Coronation Street, Sienna's hidden secret is finally exposed: her mother is suffering from dementia, bringing heartbreaking news for Asha.

Asha's Date with Sienna

Sienna, played by Charlotte Tyree, first appeared last year as a work partner for paramedic trainee Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey). This week, she returned to the cobbles to take Asha on their first date. The evening went smoothly until they arrived home, when Sienna became distracted by phone calls and left abruptly, leaving Asha hurt and bewildered.

In Thursday's episode (July 30), Sienna apologized for her hasty exit, but Nina (Mollie Gallagher) remained suspicious of her excuse about taking her elderly aunt to Bingo. Later, Nina found Sienna in bed with Asha and quickly retreated. Unable to find her wage packet, Nina accused Sienna of theft. Sienna denied it, calling Nina a jealous ex before storming off.

The Truth About Sienna's Mother

Forthcoming spoilers reveal the real reason for Sienna's behavior. In Monday's episode (August 3), Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) offers help to a woman named Sadie who is searching for her daughter. Sadie snaps at her. On the street, Debbie spots Sadie, and Sienna hurries over, but Sadie fails to recognize her and becomes aggressive. It becomes clear that Sadie is Sienna's mother and she has dementia.

Sienna declines Asha's offer of assistance and carefully guides her mother away. Later, Asha and Sienna talk about her mother's dementia and care options. Asha and Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) try to persuade Sienna that a quality care home would be best for her mother's safety and happiness.

Devastating Visit

Asha later tells Dev how she accompanied Sienna, her mother, and her brother to view a care facility. But her mother became distressed when she realized what was happening, leading to heartbreaking scenes.

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
