US fitness influencer and looksmaxxer Connor Murphy, 32, is reported to have drowned in a lake in Bang Phli, Thailand. His death was first reported on 7 July and confirmed by friends in tribute posts on social media the following day.
Incident Details
According to local press, police were called to a luxury estate in Bang Phli around 3pm on 7 July after a man was seen acting erratically before entering the water. Murphy's body was recovered 20 metres from the shore after divers conducted a 30-minute search.
A security guard at the estate, where Murphy had been renting a property, told reporters that Murphy sprinted and then dove into the lake. He swam until he appeared tired and then vanished beneath the surface. The lake is approximately 10 metres deep.
Investigation and Cause of Death
While the investigation is ongoing and a post-mortem has been ordered, authorities are presuming the death was due to drowning, as no signs of assault were found on the body. Murphy had been living in the property, valued at around £493,000, with his 22-year-old girlfriend for three months.
Murphy's Online Presence
Murphy built a following of nearly three million across his social media platforms. He described himself as a 'giga chad', a term denoting a male in peak physical fitness. His content focused on fitness and looksmaxxing, a community that advocates extreme measures to alter one's appearance. His last post, on 3 July, showed a video of a makeshift golf course at his Thai rental property.
