Comic Relief Reveals Celebrity Lineup for 2026 Red Nose Day Campaign
Comic Relief has officially announced a glittering array of stars set to participate in its 2026 Red Nose Day campaign, themed 'taking yourself funny for money'. The charity's chief executive, Samir Patel, emphasised the initiative's goal of harnessing humour to drive meaningful change. 'This Red Nose Day is the chance to come together, take yourself funny for money and turn a day of silliness and having a much-needed laugh into something that makes a world of difference,' Patel stated, highlighting the campaign's dual focus on joy and compassion.
Star-Studded Participation and Launch Event
The campaign launch on Tuesday featured a host of familiar faces, including Alison Hammond, Catherine Tate, Davina McCall, Dermot O’Leary, and Joe Lycett. They were joined by a broader lineup of celebrities committed to 'simple acts of silliness' to support the cause. Notable participants include actor Jodie Whittaker, former Lioness Jill Scott, and comedian Miranda Hart, all of whom are lending their talents to demonstrate how light-hearted actions can have a serious impact.
To kick off fundraising efforts, a new Comic Relief film has been released on YouTube, starring England rugby player Joe Marler, Jill Scott, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World series two winner Tia Kofi. The short film showcases the trio engaging in playful antics with panto horses, tiny bikes, costumes, and wigs, embodying the campaign's spirited theme.
Red Nose Day 2026 Schedule and Highlights
Red Nose Day 2026 is scheduled for Friday, March 20, culminating in an evening of comedy sketches and live performances broadcast on the BBC. Davina McCall will present the show, with support from comedians Joel Dommett, Katherine Ryan, and Nick Mohammed. Catherine Tate will reprise her beloved character Nan from The Catherine Tate Show, while one of the evening's sketches, 'The Bank Job', will feature Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary in what is billed as the 'heist to end all heists'.
Joe Marler expressed his enthusiasm for the campaign, saying, 'I absolutely love the theme of this year’s Red Nose Day – I couldn’t agree more that we all just need to have a good laugh, and why not let it be at our own expense?' He praised the collaborative spirit, noting, 'Never did I think a drag queen could make me look so bloomin’ gorgeous. So come on, do something daft with me and help raise lots of lovely money.'
Charity Impact and Broader Message
Jodie Whittaker highlighted the importance of individual contributions during turbulent times. 'I think we are in a very turbulent time, and I think that what is always so important to remember is that every single person can do something,' she remarked. 'It doesn’t matter the size, and it doesn’t matter how grand or how small, but if every single person on Red Nose Day does one little thing to contribute to their community, their society, donate a pound, donate £20 – that little goes such a long way.'
Samir Patel underscored the serious purpose behind the fun, pointing to growing societal challenges. 'For millions of people, the foundations that should be guaranteed in life are no longer there. Increasingly more and more people in our local neighbourhoods and across the world are suffering hunger, homelessness and harm,' he explained. 'We’ve reached a critical point in society, and it just can’t go on like this anymore.' Funds raised this year will specifically aid people in accessing basic essentials such as food, safe shelter, and a life free from fear and harm.
Innovative Fundraising and New Red Nose Collection
In addition to the celebrity involvement, Comic Relief has unveiled this year's new Red Nose collection, which includes the first-ever Design-Yer Nose. This blank canvas allows individuals to create their own unique designs, adding a personal touch to fundraising efforts. The initiative builds on the success of Red Nose Day 2025, which raised £34,022,590 for the charity, demonstrating the ongoing public support for Comic Relief's mission.
The campaign encourages widespread participation through various activities, from watching the BBC broadcast to engaging in local fundraising events. With its blend of entertainment and altruism, Red Nose Day 2026 aims to unite communities in a shared effort to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
