Coleen Rooney Claims Wagatha Christie Feud Triggered Secret Illness

Coleen Rooney has revealed that the 'intense' anxiety caused by the Wagatha Christie court case triggered a secret illness. The 37-year-old TV personality was sued for libel by Rebekah Vardy, 41, in May 2022, with a nine-day trial ultimately ruling in Coleen's favour.

In an upcoming Disney+ documentary, 'The Real Wagatha Story', Coleen says the legal battle caused her reactive arthritis to flare up. She told the camera: 'It caused anxiety and there were lots of tears. I have reactive arthritis. I've had it previously but this situation brought it on a lot more.'

The mother-of-four described how the ordeal 'stripped me of my character' and left her unwilling to socialise. She added: 'It hit home just how low I was at that time. My emotions really came out... I stuck to my guns from beginning to end. My story never changed from day one, and I was telling the truth.'

Coleen admitted she never expected the case to escalate as it did. 'I thought there might be a few cross words said, but I didn't think it would explode like it did. It consumed my life for a few years so it's a weight off my shoulders now.'

The comments come after Rebekah Vardy criticised Coleen for discussing the feud in a recent interview with British Vogue, accusing her of 'bringing it up again' and calling it 'boring'. Rebekah also took a swipe at Coleen's marriage to Wayne Rooney, referencing past infidelities.
