Wayne and Coleen Rooney have made a public show of unity following reports that the former Manchester United star was seen partying with a mystery woman at a pre-BRIT Awards event last month. The couple attended a launch event for Coleen's Primark collection in Liverpool, where Wayne was described as being on his best behaviour and affectionate towards his wife.
According to a source, Wayne was keen to support Coleen closer to home after missing her London launch, and the pair were photographed together for Coleen's documentary. The source said: 'All eyes were on them, and they even had the cameras there for Coleen's doc. Everything is being documented, so fans will get to see what has really been going on behind closed doors.'
The incident at the pre-Brits party saw Wayne, 39, drinking until the early hours and struggling to button his trousers after a toilet visit. Onlookers reported that he left separately from the woman he was with, though there is no suggestion of any inappropriate behaviour. Coleen was reportedly 'humiliated' and 'livid' about the situation, feeling it cast a shadow over her career achievements following her success on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
Wayne has previously spoken about his struggles with alcohol, crediting Coleen with saving his life. In an interview with Rio Ferdinand, he said: 'I honestly believe if she wasn't there I'd be dead.' He acknowledged his past mistakes and praised Coleen for helping him stay on track. The couple have been married for over 15 years and have four children.
