Cody Simpson has spoken candidly about his high-profile relationships with Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Miley Cyrus. The 29-year-old singer, who has recently focused on competitive swimming, described Jenner as his first proper girlfriend, recalling they met at the Los Angeles premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in 2010 when he was 18.
Simpson explained on the We Need To Talk with Paul C. Brunson podcast that he took Jenner to the cinema and they dated for about a year. 'It was young. I took her to the movies or something and we dated for about a year and I think we just bonded through being in these unique situations,' he said.
The Australian pop star then dated supermodel Gigi Hadid, whom he called his 'first love'. He revealed a friend gave him Hadid's phone number, and he contacted her under the pretence of asking her to appear in a music video—a ruse that 'broke the ice'. They dated for two years on and off before parting ways in 2015. Simpson admitted he took Hadid on their first date in his new car despite not having passed his driving test.
Simpson also reflected on his relationship with Miley Cyrus, which began years after they first met when he was 18. They reconnected and spent the COVID-19 lockdown together. 'We did all COVID lockdown and everything together,' he said, adding that they were both sober at the time. Simpson said he feels 'grateful' for the relationship, noting they were 'meant to be together at that time'.
