Christopher Maloney has received an outpouring of support after sharing the devastating news of his best friend's death. The 48-year-old singer, who rose to fame on the ninth series of The X Factor, described himself as being in "total shock" following the loss of his lifelong friend Emma.

Heartbreaking Announcement

In an emotional Facebook post, the Kirkdale-born star told followers he was "heartbroken" as he revealed that his best friend Emma passed away on Monday, June 8. Reflecting on their cherished memories, Christopher wrote: "I was hoping this day would NEVER EVER COME PET! My Shambo....Shami....My Emma xx"

He continued: "My best friend Emma died this morning, she was a life long friend for nearly 30 years I'm in total shock and its devastatingly painful. Heartbroken. I love you and all your family. Thanks so much for all the happy memories, not just happy, but honestly hysterical, but memories to LAST A LIFE TIME!"

A Friendship to Remember

Christopher expressed his sorrow that they would not have more time together, but held onto hope: "But, I was on the understanding we were going have more. We will, when I see your face again, my absolutely brilliant gorgeous, crazy, hysterical, cool, boss. Irish, Selfless, carry on through with a brave face and the maximum PAIN you went through."

He recalled a special moment: "Just know the @girlsaloud concert @mandsbankarena gave you pure joy! We couldn't stop crying, dancing and laughing. Love you my best beautiful friend." Signing off, he wrote: "RIP Emma Callen AKA Shambo/Shami. Thinking of Robbie, Rachel and all Emma's family and friends, here in Liverpool, but across Ireland and America. I'm forever grateful for these memories. Your best pain in the a**e friend Christopher xx."
