Christine McGuinness has confirmed she is not dating athlete Nicola Adams, while revealing she has sworn off dating men. The model and TV presenter, who split from Paddy McGuinness in 2022 after 11 years of marriage, said she now only wants to date women.
Addressing the rumours
In a new interview with The Sun, the 38-year-old mother-of-two was asked about speculation linking her to former professional boxer Adams. She responded: “No. I literally just met her at an event.”
Christine, who revealed last year that she has always found women attractive, said she is enjoying dating women since her divorce, even though she and Paddy still live in the same house.
Finding a 'flame' with women
She told the newspaper: “I wouldn’t consider a relationship with a man... I only want to date women now. There’s a flame, a fire I feel when I’m around certain women and I love it.”
The Real Housewives of Cheshire star described dating women as “a lot more intense” and said she loves the “passion and intimacy” that comes with it. She also revealed she would “love to refer to someone as my wife one day”.
New novel based on her love life
Last month, Christine revealed she is writing a novel based on her love life with women, which she jokingly titles “50 Shades of Gay”. She is already an established author, having published her autobiography, A Beautiful Nightmare, in 2021 and a children’s picture book, Amazing Me, Amazing You, in 2023.
Her new book will be more risqué, as she said: “My thoughts after sex were wild, I thought, I need to get this out of my brain, so I started writing it down.” The novel will follow a woman who recently moved to a big city and is “finding her feet”. However, she is still undecided about “if and when I will publish it”.
Autism and ADHD diagnosis
Christine was diagnosed with autism and ADHD at the age of 33 in 2021, after her and Paddy’s three children were also diagnosed with autism. Her diagnosis came about during an on-air assessment while filming the BBC documentary, Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism.
She later opened up about coming to terms with the diagnosis and parenting three children with the same condition in her next BBC documentary, Christine McGuinness: Unmasking My Autism. She previously told The Standard: “Since getting my diagnosis and knowing that my children are always watching me, I want to make sure I do everything I can possible, so they grow up believing that nothing is going to hold them back. I don’t want them to believe that being autistic is going to stop them from doing anything.”
