In an exclusive preview of her latest podcast episode, Christine McGuinness has candidly discussed her love life, declaring that while she is dating again, she never intends to walk down the aisle a second time. The model and television personality, who was previously married to Paddy McGuinness, shared these personal revelations on her podcast Situationships with Sophie and Christine, which she co-hosts with author Sophie Gravia.
No Desire for Remarriage
Christine McGuinness explicitly stated that she has no interest in getting married again. "I don't think I'll ever do it again," she said during the podcast recording. She was quick to clarify that this perspective does not stem from negative experiences, explaining, "That doesn't mean it was a bad or negative thing. But I've done it and I've learned from it. I've always believed in marriage and I still do, but I've been there and done it."
Reflections on Past Marriage
Christine and Paddy McGuinness were married for eleven years before their separation in 2022 and subsequent divorce in 2024. She described this period as a "really long marriage" and acknowledged that the divorce process was "really, really tough." This experience has significantly shaped her current outlook, as she noted, "Knowing that could be the outcome, I don't really want to do it again."
She elaborated on her desire for freedom in future relationships, stating, "When it's over, I want to be free as a bird and nothing holding me back." This sentiment reflects her wish to avoid the legal entanglements that marriage documents can create during separations.
New Romance and Perspectives
Despite her stance on marriage, Christine McGuinness has revealed that she is currently in a new relationship, which she describes as a "situationship" with a woman. She announced, "My celibacy is over," indicating the start of this romantic involvement. The couple has already discussed important life matters, including children.
Clarity on Future Plans
Christine, who is a mother to three children, has made it clear to her new partner that she does not want to have any more children. She explained, "My situationship, she knows I don't want to be married, she knows I don't want children. So it's up to her to let me know." She emphasized her commitment to honesty, adding, "I'm not going to sugar coat it. I don't want to keep something going hoping that they'll change their mind and I'd never tell people that they shouldn't be a mum."
Alternative Celebrations
While Christine McGuinness is firm about not remarrying, she expressed openness to other forms of commitment ceremonies. She mentioned understanding why same-sex couples might desire marriage, especially since it has only been legally recognized since 2014. She revealed that she would not be opposed to having a "big gay blessing" and would love to refer to someone as her "wife," viewing it as a "celebration of love" rather than a traditional marriage.
Previous Podcast Discussions
This is not the first time Christine has opened up about romance on her podcast. In February, she shared concerns about developing a "trauma bond" in relationships, stating, "Before I started this situationship I'm in now, we were talking a lot and I was very aware that a lot of the stuff I was sharing that we had in common that it could potentially build a trauma bond because I've done it previously. That's the last bond I'd like to build with someone because it's almost toxic."
The full episode of Situationships with Sophie and Christine, featuring these intimate revelations, will be available from 5pm on Friday, 20th March on BBC Sounds. Christine McGuinness continues to use her platform to discuss modern relationships with refreshing honesty and insight.
