Speaking to the Daily Mail, McGuinness said she is typically asked about the show every year but had previously declined due to concerns about leaving her children and fears of creepy crawlies. However, she added: 'I think this year most likely I'd be like f*** it, why not.' The comments led many to believe she would be participating.
When the full contestant list was released this week, McGuinness's name was absent. A source told the Daily Mirror that ITV bosses were 'definitely confused' and 'infuriated' by her apparent confirmation, as celebrities usually shut down such speculation. The source added that McGuinness should have clarified the situation.
McGuinness shares three children—twins Penelope and Leo, and daughter Felicity—with ex-husband Paddy McGuinness. The couple continue to co-parent and live together.
