Chloe Madeley Opens Up About 'Emotional and Volatile' Divorce from James Haskell

Chloe Madeley has spoken candidly about her divorce from former rugby player James Haskell, describing the process as 'emotional and volatile'. The couple, who share three-year-old daughter Bodhi, separated in 2023 after 11 years together and five years of marriage.

In an interview with The Sun, the 38-year-old personal trainer explained that while co-parenting has 'fallen into place', the divorce itself has been fraught with ups and downs. 'We have weeks where everything's fine and we get on really well. And then we have weeks where we don't agree on something or someone gets frustrated or angry, and then we don't speak,' she said.

Madeley, daughter of television presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, admitted that receiving the final divorce papers was like an 'undiluted slap in the face'. She said it made her feel like she had 'failed' and that she needed 'a time of grieving' before she could view it as a fresh start. The divorce was finalised on 30 December.

Despite the difficulties, Madeley emphasised that she 'never want[s] to be in a relationship with him again' and is uncertain about future relationships, describing the marriage as having become 'incredibly dark and sad and painful'. She revealed she experienced depression severe enough to require medication following the separation, but after two years has reached a place where she is 'loving life again'.

Madeley acknowledged that James Haskell will have his own version of events, but noted that their co-parenting relationship has improved since the divorce, calling him 'a great father'.
