The Chase star Jenny Ryan, known as The Vixen, has been hospitalised to have her enlarged thyroid gland removed. The 44-year-old quiz expert shared the news on Instagram, posting photos of her hospital stay and a scar on her neck following the procedure.
In her post, Ryan explained that her thyroid gland had grown so large it began causing problems, leading doctors to 'chop it out.' She wrote: 'As much as I'd like to have an exciting and glamorous reason... the reality is not so sexy. My thyroid gland made a bid for fame and got so big it started causing some problems so we chopped it out.'

Ryan assured fans that the surgery went well, stating: 'I'm fine. Surgery was all good and the consultant is very happy. My voice still works and it's healing nicely.' She added that she had to stay still for a couple of weeks to prevent complications but is now recovering well. She thanked the staff at University College Hospital (UCH) for their care, saying: 'The NHS is beyond wonderful.'
