Former Love Island contestant Charleen Murphy has confessed that she chose the 'wrong brother' after her surprising elimination from the programme. The Dublin-based social media personality entered the ITV dating reality show during the Casa Amor segment of the current series, billed as 'one of the most eagerly awaited bombshell entries'. She swiftly caught the attention of Kavan Murphy, who was already coupled up with Jasmine Muller.
Charleen's Bittersweet Exit
Audiences watched as Charleen grew close to Kavan, and the 21-year-old decided to take her back to the main villa. However, viewers were stunned to witness Kavan rapidly having second thoughts, ending things with Charleen and reuniting with Jasmine at the earliest chance. This left Charleen unattached and compelled to exit the villa. Speaking on the most recent instalment of Love Island Aftersun alongside fellow eliminated bombshell Mara, Charleen revealed her exit felt 'bittersweet' and recognised her stint in the villa concluded on a 'sour note'.
No Regrets Despite Heartbreak
Despite the heartbreak, Charleen harbours no second thoughts about joining the programme. She explained: 'Casa, we came in together, it was such a good time. Then coming into the main villa, which is so big with a group of people who don't really want you there, so it's going to be frosty. We knew coming into Casa that could happen but I think when you're living it, it's hard.' When asked by presenter Maya Jama whether there were any indicators from Kavan that he might have second thoughts, Charleen disclosed: 'The second we walked back from Casa, he dropped my hand at the recoupling and I just knew. And that's what lead to me being really upset as well - the instant energy shift.'
Charleen Admits She Picked the Wrong Brother
Charleen made another startling admission when Maya questioned whether she wished she'd gotten to know anyone else. Charleen declared: 'Yeah, I think I picked the wrong brother. Honestly, I watched it back, he spoke so highly of me, said so many nice things behind my back. If I had of known... like one of those movies like right in front of you the whole time.' Last year's champion Toni Laites was also present as a guest panellist and questioned Charleen about her prior acquaintance with Sean Fitzgerald before the programme. Charleen responded: 'He was on my list. But I got a vibe straight away he wasn't open. If he had been slightly flirty maybe.'
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
