Chantelle Houghton on Preston romance and what she'd change for CBB

Chantelle Houghton, who won Celebrity Big Brother in 2006, has revealed how she would approach the show differently if given a second chance. The star is reportedly in talks to return to the house next month, alongside other former winners like Kate Lawler.

Reflecting on her time in the house

Speaking to Betway, Chantelle opened up about her experience and her relationship with Preston two decades later. She admitted she lacked self-confidence during her original stint, particularly when dealing with fellow housemate Dennis Rodman.

"I adored Pete (Burns). He stirred things up a bit, but he received plenty of affection from supporters as well," she said. "My self-assurance in standing up for myself was lacking, but I was so young. I shared the house with Dennis Rodman, and we had our differences."

She added: "If I could revisit that time, I would have approached it differently and not been afraid to assert myself more than I did. I'm content with how I managed things as I tried not to let him get under my skin, but I wish I'd been more vocal."

Kind celebrities and the love story with Preston

Chantelle also praised some celebrities for their kindness, including Jamie Oliver and Dermot O'Leary. She recalled how Oliver spoke to her about sudden fame and even invited her for a meal with his wife, Jools.

Reflecting on her romance with Preston, which captivated viewers, she said: "I believe everyone is a sucker for a love story, aren't they? It's such a wonderful thing. Our situation was quite peculiar, with me not really being a celebrity and then pretending to be one, and Preston already having a girlfriend. But there was something very pure about what was blossoming between us. I think people sort of fell in love with our love story."

She noted that the pair still exchange messages occasionally, though she believes he is now engaged. "We're still amicable, there's no ill will. We didn't have a terrible fallout," she said, adding that a romantic reunion is definitively off the table: "Never ever!"

Harsh words from fellow celebrities

Not all experiences were positive. Chantelle recalled how Richard Madeley made her feel insignificant during a TV appearance, telling her that the nation's adoration would not last. She also mentioned Ruby Wax's dismissive comment about her 15 minutes of fame.

Despite these setbacks, Chantelle remains open to the idea of returning to the Big Brother house, though she has not confirmed any official deal.
