Celebs Go Dating star Anna Williamson has revealed her simple trick for leaving an awkward date quickly, as thousands prepare for Valentine's Day. The dating expert, who joined the Channel 4 show in 2019, advises singletons to avoid dinner dates altogether.
Speaking to the Mirror, Williamson said: 'I actually recommend people don’t go out for dinner on a first date because it can be a lot of unnecessary pressure grappling with knives, forks, and food.' She suggests opting for a drink or coffee instead, allowing a quick exit after 30 minutes if the date is not going well.
Williamson also highlighted red flags such as elbows on the table, talking with a full mouth, and rushing food. Her biggest 'ick' is people who bring phones on a date, calling it a distraction that signals lack of focus.
She advises being direct and honest at the end of a date: 'If you haven’t enjoyed the date, maybe offer to split the bill and be really clear if there is not going to be a second one.'
This Valentine’s Day, Williamson has partnered with Cadbury to launch a compatibility checker based on how people eat a Creme Egg, aiming to help singles find their perfect match.
