Olly Rix, known for his role in Call the Midwife, has announced his engagement to fellow Casualty star Anna Chell. The couple, who play surgeon Flynn Byron and nurse Jodie Whyte on the BBC medical drama, shared the news on Instagram on Monday.
Rix, 40, posted a photo of himself kissing Chell, 29, on the forehead, with a simple engagement ring emoji and red heart in the caption. The post was met with an outpouring of support from fans and co-stars, including Sammy Dobson, who plays Nicole Piper on Casualty, who wrote: 'ARGHHHH!!!! THIS IS SO, SO LUSH!!! Congratulations!!!'
The couple first confirmed their romance in August 2025, when Chell shared photos of them together with Rix's Cocker Spaniel, Nellie. Rix commented on the post: 'Summer with Anna and Nellie.'
Rix played Matthew Aylward on Call the Midwife from 2021 until his departure in 2024, when the character moved to New York. He joined Casualty in early 2025, where he met Chell. Chell, 29, made her TV debut in ITV's The Bay in 2022 before joining Casualty in 2023.
