Coronation Street fans have made their feelings clear as Cassie Plummer's exit storyline gets underway with a new arrival set to shake up her life on the cobbles. Claire Sweeney, who made her debut as Cassie in 2023, is leaving the Salford-based show to take on another role, and new spoilers hint at what's ahead.
Cassie's Backstory and Exit
Cassie arrived on the cobbles as a drug user and was revealed to be the long-lost mother of Tyrone Dobbs and the estranged daughter of Evelyn Plummer. As part of her exit, Tyrone's father, Ross, played by Ian Burfield, enters the picture.
In upcoming scenes, at No.9, Cassie catches Hope and Ruby Dobbs engrossed in an email on Hope’s phone, but they refuse to explain, saying it’s a surprise for Tyrone. Spoilers for next week reveal that Tyrone's golf day with his dad goes wrong when the mechanic puts his back out. Meanwhile, Bernie Winter notices Cassie is uneasy around Ross. Cassie confesses to Bernie that someone is blackmailing her, and Bernie convinces her to tackle it head-on.
Drama with Tracy and Ross
Having witnessed Tracy Barlow and Ross snogging on the street, Cassie later tells Tracy she saw Ross heading into the Bistro with flowers, causing Tracy's good mood to vanish. When Tyrone and Hope warn Ross that Tracy is bad news, he fails to take them seriously. As the week ends, Ross is bemused when Tracy gives him the cold shoulder. He explains about the flowers but tells a furious Tracy he wants to cool things off to focus on his relationship with Tyrone. Ross then warns Cassie to stop interfering in his life. After being given her marching orders by Tyrone, Cassie decides she needs to tell Steve the truth.
