According to a tell-all given to the Daily Mail, Victoria and David Beckham had not been speaking with Brooklyn in the months before the wedding. The Peltz family went through five wedding planners, reportedly trying to keep the in-laws – especially Victoria – in the dark about the disorganisation.
Rumours of a feud had been brewing for years, centred on trouble at the Palm Beach ceremony, particularly Victoria's behaviour. This included chatter of an 'inappropriate' mother-son dance, a fight over wedding outfits and a power struggle between Victoria and the bride-to-be.
Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham now live in Los Angeles, estranged from David, Victoria, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. Brooklyn accused his family of manipulating him in an Instagram statement at the start of the year. The couple renewed their vows in August 2025, with none of the 27-year-old's immediate family invited.
David Beckham's speech
At the wedding itself, speeches were a point of contention. Best men Romeo and Cruz teased Brooklyn about his declarations of love for Nicola, but David took a different approach. Having not spoken to Brooklyn for three months, he gave a long speech focused entirely on their father-son relationship, with no mention of Nicola.
One guest recalled: 'The speech went on, and on. It was one of the oddest bits of the day. It was as if David was getting married to Brooklyn.' He ended with advice: 'The most important thing is to make each other happy. And treat your Mrs like gold.' By contrast, Nicola's father, Nelson, gave a short speech focused mainly on Ukraine.
Mother-son dance and day-after brunch
On the mother-son dance, Nicola had planned to dance with Brooklyn before singer Marc Anthony invited his mother on stage instead. At the day-after brunch at the Peltzes' Palm Beach home, one guest said: 'Honestly? It was like someone had died.' DJ Fat Tony, who played at the wedding, said: 'Before judging, people should remember that two parents have lost their first-born son and a son has lost his parents. All families have dramas, but they just happen to be the Beckhams.'
Fallout
In the four years since the wedding, the relationship has completely broken down. Brooklyn has blocked his family on social media and has been absent for major milestones, including David's Knighthood, his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Victoria's Netflix show premiere and World Cup festivities.
