Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, 27, has been photographed on his godfather Sir Elton John's yacht near Nice in the south of France, while his parents David and Victoria holiday 460 miles away in Formentera, Spain.
Brooklyn and his wife Nicola were joined by Elton, 79, and his husband David Furnish, 63. The four sat together around a table on the yacht before each couple walked hand in hand along the seafront.
David, 51, and Victoria, 52, are in Formentera with sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, daughter Harper, 15, and Romeo's girlfriend Kim Turnbull.
'Nothing has changed'
Elton, a close friend of the Beckhams, has reportedly been in contact with both sides of the family and maintains a strong bond with his godson. He has previously been reported to have played 'peacemaker' after Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to 'ruin' his relationship with Nicola earlier this year.
A source told The Sun: 'Nothing has changed. That is to say, neither party has reached out to the other. It's devastating and, of course, David and Victoria would love nothing more than for their eldest boy to be with them on holiday. Instead, Brooklyn is living it up in the South of France with Elton, who has previously tried playing peacemaker — albeit to no avail.'
They added: 'Elton loves Brooklyn dearly and understands better than anyone the pressures of fame and families falling out. He was estranged from his own mum for a few years before making up with her. He has tried speaking to both sides, but also respects Brooklyn's wish for silence. The only thing that will heal this rift is time.'
A rift years in the making
Speculation about a family feud first surfaced in 2022, with reports of a fallout around the time of Brooklyn and Nicola's wedding. The couple had largely put on a united front with his family, but started to distance themselves last year.
Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent from milestone events, including David's 50th birthday celebrations and his knighthood ceremony. None of the Beckhams were invited to Brooklyn and Nicola's vow renewal ceremony last summer.
Public statements
In January, Brooklyn broke his silence on social media, accusing his parents of 'controlling' him and declaring that he was now 'standing up' for himself.
Victoria spoke out in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in April, saying: 'I think that we've always – we love our children so much. We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be.' She explained: 'And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that's all I really want to say about it.'
Brooklyn, however, insisted there would be no reunion any time soon, saying: 'Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed. ... I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.'
