Brooklyn Beckham has been criticised by celebrity chef Aldo Zilli after a video showed him using burnt bacon lardons in a carbonara dish. The 26-year-old shared the clip on social media, prompting Zilli to say that burning the guanciale would make the dish 'taste terrible'.
Zilli, who specialises in Italian cuisine, said: 'Nowadays every celebrity is jumping on the cooking bandwagon. Burning guanciale would cause it to become bitter, hard and make the carbonara taste terrible – maybe he needs a masterclass from Aldo Zilli! Stop changing recipes!'
Brooklyn defended his cooking, saying: 'Guanciale has a lot of sugar in and that's why it's darker. I slow cooked it so it's not burned.' However, fans were also critical, with one commenting: 'As an Italian.. no. That cheek is burnt.'
This is not the first time Brooklyn has faced criticism for his cooking. Last year, he was criticised for serving blackened pizza in a clip promoting his hot sauce, and was labelled 'unhygienic' for using sea water to make pasta. His now-defunct YouTube show 'Cookin with Brooklyn' reportedly cost £74,000 per episode to produce.
Brooklyn, who is estranged from his parents David and Victoria Beckham, recently renewed his vows with wife Nicola Peltz. The family rift was highlighted when he failed to attend his father's 50th birthday parties but posted a birthday message to his father-in-law, Nelson Peltz.
