Brooklyn Beckham has been relaxing on holiday with his godfather Elton John in the South of France, while his parents David and Victoria are on a yacht 75 miles away in St Tropez. The 27-year-old entrepreneur and his wife Nicola Peltz, 32, joined the music icon on his vessel near Nice, with no sign of the feud coming to an end.
Yachts apart
Images showed Brooklyn kicking back on the luxury yacht as Elton smiled in the sunshine. Nicola wore a white lace minidress for the outing, while Brooklyn chose denim shorts, a white T-shirt and a backwards baseball cap. Meanwhile, David was seen with his arm around his son Romeo during the family getaway.
No mediator
The distance between the two boats reflects the ongoing feud, which has not been affected by Elton's close friendship with the Beckhams. David used to call the musician "Uncle Elton" after they became friends during his playing days. Yet despite being on good terms with everyone, Elton did not appear to be playing mediator.
Brooklyn has continued to shun family occasions since posting a scathing Instagram rant that called out his mother's actions on his wedding day. Reports now suggest the family had not been speaking before the 2022 wedding, and that the united front shown publicly hid a much more strained relationship.
Feud predates wedding
A source claimed things between the clan had been "intolerable" for the couple's oldest child. According to the Daily Mail, relations had become so fraught between Brooklyn and his parents because of tensions with Nicola that they were not on speaking terms for roughly three months before the couple married in Palm Beach in April 2022.
The Daily Mail reports: "Indeed, relations had become so fraught between Brooklyn and his parents – because of tensions with his fiancée Nicola – that I can reveal that they weren't actually on speaking terms for some three months before the young couple married in Palm Beach, in April 2022." It added: "And yet still the Beckhams smiled for the cameras there, and posted adoring posts on social media after the event."
Wedding dress row
The latest reports follow Brooklyn's public criticism of his mother over the wedding dress. Nicola previously said she had wanted to wear a dress designed by Victoria, but Victoria's atelier later realised it could not be done, so she had to pick another dress. Nicola said: "I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn't do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn't say 'You can't wear it'; I didn't say I didn't want to wear it. That's where it started, and then they ran with that."
In his Instagram post, Brooklyn claimed: "My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped." He said his mother cancelled making Nicola's dress "in the eleventh hour", despite how excited Nicola was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress. He also claimed that weeks before the wedding, his parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe him into signing away the rights to his name, which would have affected him, his wife and their future children.
