David Beckham is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, but his eldest son, Brooklyn, is reportedly planning to skip the ceremony despite living just 20 minutes away. The former footballer will be honoured for his contributions to sports and entertainment in an emotional event attended by his wife, Victoria, and close friend Tom Cruise.
A source told Metro that Brooklyn's absence is intentional, stating, 'It wouldn’t be the right time or place for a family reunion after everything that’s happened between them.' The Beckham family has been strained since January, when Brooklyn issued a public statement accusing his parents of trying to 'ruin my relationship' and declaring he does not want to reconcile.
Victoria Beckham later responded, saying, 'We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be... all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children.' The Walk of Fame ceremony costs $85,000 for sponsorship, plus a $275 application fee, covering lifetime maintenance and installation.
David and Victoria Beckham have not commented on their son's absence, and representatives for both parties have been contacted for further remarks.
