According to the Daily Mail, sources close to Brooklyn Beckham claim tensions within the Beckham family were already high before his wedding to Nicola Peltz in 2022. Brooklyn, 27, allegedly stopped speaking to his parents for three months in the run-up to the ceremony.
The new claims come after Brooklyn publicly disowned David and Victoria Beckham in a January Instagram post, saying "Brand Beckham" was more important than its members. The 52-year-old Victoria and 51-year-old David have not commented on the rift.
Tensions before the wedding
Sources told the Daily Mail that the relationship was already on "very thin ice" after accusations that the Beckhams had "ruined" the wedding day. One source said: "It was intolerable for Brooklyn. He tried, but nothing was enough. You have to be an indentured servant. You can’t do 75 per cent of what is asked, you have to be all in."
The source added: "And yet still the Beckhams smiled for the cameras there, and posted adoring posts on social media after the event. He wanted to speak because it had become completely inauthentic and all for social media. The posts for birthdays when you haven’t spoken in months which say 'Mum and Dad love you' − he found weird and they gave him anxiety."
Wedding claims
In his January post, Brooklyn alleged that Victoria "hijacked" his first dance with his new wife, leaving Nicola in tears. He also said Victoria had danced "inappropriately" with him in front of 500 guests. Additionally, Victoria was reported to have pulled out of making Nicola's wedding dress at the last minute, forcing the bride to find a new gown.
Brooklyn ended his statement by insisting his family could only contact him through lawyers. Friends of the family were reportedly stunned, but Brooklyn's own associates said he had been holding onto these feelings for a long time.
One source explained: "Truly, people do not know the full facts of this heart-breaking tale, and think Brooklyn was just being truculent when he blocked his parents. The reality is that he issued them with a letter at the end of last summer, asking for any correspondence to go via lawyers only, and wanted to try and make amends privately not publicly. He felt his parents continued to ignore his wishes and kept mentioning him online instead of reaching out privately."
