A guest at Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz's 2022 wedding has described the simmering tension between the couple and the groom's family, including an unusual speech from David Beckham that left attendees baffled.
The source told the Daily Mail that the former footballer, who had not spoken to Brooklyn for three months before the ceremony, gave a long address focused solely on his relationship with his son, with no mention of Nicola. One guest recalled: 'The speech went on, and on. It was one of the oddest bits of the day. It was as if David was getting married to Brooklyn.' He concluded by advising Brooklyn to 'make each other happy' and 'treat your Mrs like gold'.
Tensions were also evident during the mother-son dance, which Nicola had planned to share with Brooklyn before singer Marc Anthony invited Victoria Beckham on stage instead. The fallout continued at the day-after brunch at the Peltzes' Palm Beach home, where another guest said: 'Honestly? It was like someone had died.'
The couple, who renewed their vows in August 2025 without any of Brooklyn's immediate family present, have become completely estranged from David and Victoria Beckham and his siblings. Brooklyn has blocked them all on social media and has been absent for key family milestones, including David's knighthood and Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, as well as Victoria's Netflix premiere.
DJ Fat Tony, who played at the wedding, urged understanding, saying: 'Before judging, people should remember that two parents have lost their first-born son and a son has lost his parents. All families have dramas, but they just happen to be the Beckhams.'
