The couple decided to hold the renewal in August 2025 to 'create new memories', after Brooklyn claimed his initial wedding was overshadowed by family drama.
The pair originally married in April 2022 at a lavish three-day event in Palm Beach, which reportedly cost millions and was attended by 500 guests, including both families, Gordon Ramsay and members of the Spice Girls. However, tensions were reported in the lead-up to the wedding, with Nicola choosing a Valentino gown rather than a design by her then future mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham.
In a statement issued on January 19, Brooklyn accused his parents, David and Victoria, of trying to ruin his relationship. He claimed his mother cancelled making Nicola's dress at the eleventh hour, forcing her to urgently find a new one, and that he was pressured to sign away the rights to his name weeks before the wedding.
He also alleged that his mother called him 'evil' because he and Nicola chose to include their nannies at their table during the wedding planning. Brooklyn said he does not want to reconcile with his family, stating he is 'standing up' for himself for the first time in his life.
The vow renewal took place without his parents, as Brooklyn said he wanted to create new memories after the difficulties surrounding the first ceremony. He has not commented further on the matter, but his statement detailed what he described as a long-running pattern of parental interference.
