Britney Spears Hits Back at 'Extremely Hurtful' Claims in Kevin Federline's Memoir

Britney Spears has responded to allegations made by her ex-husband Kevin Federline in his upcoming memoir, calling the claims 'extremely hurtful and exhausting'. In the book, Federline alleges that Spears once stood in their sons' doorway holding a knife, among other accusations about her parenting and mental health.

The former couple divorced in 2007 and share two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Federline obtained sole physical custody of the children that same year. In an excerpt published in the New York Times, Federline claims the boys would wake to find Spears silently watching them with a knife in her hand before walking away without explanation.

Spears responded on Instagram on Wednesday, stating she has 'always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys' and that the relationships with her teenage sons are complex. She said she has felt 'demoralized' and has 'always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life'. Spears also claimed that one son has only seen her for 45 minutes in the past five years, while the other has had only four visits.

In a statement from her team, a spokesperson said Federline and others are 'profiting off her' and that the allegations come after child support payments have ended. The spokesperson added that Spears 'only cares about her kids and their wellbeing'.

Federline also writes about the #FreeBritney movement in his memoir, saying it 'started from a good place' but is 'no longer about freedom. It's about survival'. He expressed fear that 'something bad is going to happen if things don't change' and that their sons will be 'left holding the pieces'.

Spears concluded her Instagram post by saying the 'white lies in that book' are 'going straight to the bank' and that she is 'the only one who genuinely gets hurt here'. She maintained that she is 'a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life'.
