Britney Spears' representative has come to her defense after reports emerged that the pop star was 'barking' and 'yelling' while dining at a restaurant in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. The 44-year-old singer, known for hits like 'Toxic,' was spotted at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks with a male companion, and according to various outlets, she quickly began causing a disturbance.
Reports of Disturbance
Witnesses claimed that Spears was smoking out of a window, barking loudly, and even holding a knife at one point. However, her team has now spoken out to refute these claims, insisting that the situation was grossly exaggerated.
Representative's Statement
A representative confirmed: 'This is completely blown out of proportion. Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard.' They explained that the 'barking' was simply part of a story she was telling about her dog barking at neighbors. Regarding the knife, the rep stated: 'At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half.'
The representative further criticized the media, saying: 'This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop. Now.'
Recent Rehab Stay
This incident comes shortly after Spears left a rehabilitation facility following her arrest in March. She checked into Borden Cottage in Maine, where the minimum stay is 45 days at an estimated cost of $140,000. The mother of two was arrested on suspicion of DUI on March 4 and later pleaded guilty, receiving a 12-month probation sentence. She spent three weeks in rehab to address substance abuse and mental health issues.
Spiritual Journey
On social media, Spears shared that she had undergone a 'spiritual journey.' Posting a picture of herself holding a baby snake, she wrote: 'Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck… I'm so d**n thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise…' She added: 'It's a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!'
