Brian McFadden has said he no longer speaks to either of his ex-wives, Kerry Katona or Vogue Williams, and intends to keep it that way.
The former Westlife singer, 46, shares daughters Molly, 25, and Lilly, 23, with Kerry and said he no longer sees a need to stay in touch with their mother. He has also not reached out to Vogue after she gave birth to her fourth child.
No reason to stay in contact
“I don’t speak to Kerry any more. We don’t need to,” he told The Sun. “Our kids are all grown up now, they’re adults, so there’s no reason to be in contact any more, unless they get married.”
“When they get married, obviously I’ll have to speak to her that day, but that’ll be it.”
Brian tied the knot with his long-term partner, Danielle Parkinson, in a beachside ceremony in the summer last year. The couple are also parents to five-year-old daughter Ruby Jean.
Wedding invites criticised
Both of Brian’s daughters with Kerry attended the wedding, but neither Kerry nor Vogue were invited.
Vogue criticised the decision on her podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me, saying she thought it was “incredibly rude” that he didn’t invite her and that was “why [they] don’t talk”.
Brian disagreed, saying he thinks it’s “not normal” to invite an ex-wife to your wedding and that they haven’t spoken in a long time.
“We’re both married to other people and have children and families,” he said. “Why would you bother speaking to your ex? It doesn’t make any sense.”
He added that he couldn’t invite many people, including friends who were “quite annoyed” not to get an invite. “We just wanted a small, personal wedding,” he said.
Westlife covers criticism
Brian also spoke about his time in Westlife, admitting there were some hits he didn’t like.
“Miss You Nights by Cliff Richard,” he said. “I’m not a massive fan of Mandy either. I love the original Westlife songs. It was the weird covers that Simon Cowell made us do that I’m not a fan of.”
“I remember us having these arguments at the very end. We’d go away and make this incredible original album of Westlife songs and then Simon would come in and make us do cover versions.”
